Keith perceived the need for a book on cricket wickets after attending a seminar at the SCG in 2000, and after contact with Don McIntyre, he found that Don had a great deal of information in the form of unpublished material. This vital material concerned the physics of wicket soils and their behaviour. The book tells why wickets perform in a certain way, as well as providing comprehensive practical methods for constructing, maintaining and preparing wickets based on the sound soil physics. It also comprehensively covers the testing of soils for wickets.
This book is a must for all those involved in cricket, from the ACB down to the volunteer who prepares weekend wickets.
“Keith McIntyre has a BSc. Hons. From the University of New England and a MSc. from the Australian National University and has 30 years experience in sportsturf. TSU built up a reputation for excellence in cool season turf management and irrigation but its most important contribution was in the field of sportsground construction, soils and drainage.”
