The Mexted Story

Steve Mexted reflects on Wellington 15 years ago where the sports grounds were mud pits with no proper drainage and poorly maintained. Players would emerge from a game covered from head to toe in mud. A number of the sports grounds were built on landfills and were far from ideal playing surfaces. In the last few years sand profiles and good drainage systems have been installed resulting in better quality playing surfaces as well as less muddy players to watch!
