Warm ups and Keeper scratch marks
These are two personal gripes of mine, echoed all over the country by my fellow Groundsmen. If you want to do something about it, then leave your name, club and comments. If we get enough responses, I will e-mail them to the FA. It doesn't matter whether you look after Premier league or a village club, the work to repair the pitch is the same-so get responding!!!

warm ups and downs(for us anyhow)
warm ups these days consist of mini soccer games and doggies etc. Coming out at least an hour before KO is there any need? The players look tired in the 2nd half, we are just sick and tired.... of the extra work involved, they can do more damage in this time than during the game it's self! There should be a time limit to this activity. Also after one game I had 40 players warming down! When we were trying to repair the pitch, the away team seemed to have brought the reserve team for a training session this takes the ****. I decided to put the irrigation on after our team had finished, soon cleared them off. But is it fair to us and the pitch?

Scratch marks
I work in the Ryman league, have done for years and noticed that keepers started to guage chunks out to mark their box a few years ago. Most of them do it because they see the top pros do it. Our club aren't in a position to returf these areas and despite my efforts to refill the holes they get larger and more worn as the season goes on. There is little money for renovating the pitch, so these areas have become dips over time. I have been told that it is a bookable offence to do it, but I have also been told that I can't put any additional marks down to stop them scratching the grass out-please help!

warm ups etc
well my friends, there are a couple of problems here. Warm ups/downs . yes as sports men they do need them! but why in the most important areas of the pitch ?? some head men dont Know how to talk to the manager and explain the pro's and con's to this taking place(yes!!men!! worried about their jobs). Also communication and lack of understanding is the biggest down fall of the end user. they either dont want to, or cant understand us! the provider. The F.A should back us. The IOG should back us !!!! This trade needs to be brought up to date (something that PITCH CARE seems to be doing) but we need to help ourselves as well. This is a great trade, but so so many people outside of it dont understand what we do and how under paid we are! may be when they do reconise us they will watch these sports week in and week out. And understand what has gone in to preparing this surface for their team to play on. May be if it starts at the top (IOG and likes)
WE MAY STAND A CHANCE !!! :)

Right behind you!
Saw you at Saltex,I was with Dave Roberts from Southampton Football Club,Im the lad from Sparsholt Collage but im at Saints at the moment. You told me to write on here so i am. If they helpus we can help them. We only ask a little, just to move over a few feet or use the wings and they dont, some of them do but most dont. We have to put our views across and this is the only way! K Standley, Jnr Groundsman

keeper marks
watch them during pre match warm up if you see any discreetly tell the ref before kick off. watch during gameto see if ref has had words. if no success tell club chairman or similar and write letter to f.a.or footy league with ref and culprits name. will go on 4 ever till marks for centre of 18 yard box and post marks on 6 yard are allowed

Goalmouth markings.
Understand fully the problem of keepers making illeagal markings on the 6yard box etc...
A tactic I have found the most effective, when I have spotted a keeper involved in this practice, is to stand 2 yards behind him and say, "Oi keeper. Put one more mark on this pitch and I'll put this rake up your ar$£". It works a treat.

warm ups
warm ups are now starting to take the urine in my opinion, derby ressies against coventry at p pk i have just counted 22 players & coaches in the cov half,19 in the derby half and yes of course the ref and 3 linesman in the derby half plus an array of cones, discs and flagpoles.I half expected the RAF dog team to follow them out.

THEM!
I JUST HAD THE PLEASURE OF A STAND UP ARGUMENT WITH FOUR COACHES FROM A SMALL SECOND DIVISION CLUB WHO INSISTED THAT BY THEM 'WARMING DOWN' ON THE MAIN STAND WING,THEY WERE PROTECTING THE PITCH!ALONG WITH THE SOUTH END,THIS IS OUR WORST AREA FOR SHADE,WHEN I SUGGESTED THAT THEIR PROBLEM WITH ME TELLING THEM TO GO ON THE FAR SIDE OR GET OFF THE PITCH WS DUE TO THEM JUST GETTING BEAT,THEY DIDNT LIKE IT.
WE NEED TO FIGHT BACK!!!!!!!!!
