A Slow, damp pitch

I have just taken over looking after a cricket pitch in the south of England. The pitch is very slow and often soft, even through a dry spell. What could be done on an almost nil budget?

damp, slow wickets

Rob. It sounds to me that you have a thatch problem, take a core and see what depth of thatch there is. With little funds available scarification in the autumn would be advisable. How vigorous would depend upon thatch depth found
