Hello,
Im a Deputy Groundsman working at a English Premiership Football team and Im seeking employment around the Gold Coast region.
Im 28 with 11 years experience within Football and Golf in both England and Australia. I am qualified to NVQ Level 3 with Tractor and spraying certificates.
I have attended IOG day courses covering Mower maintenance, Tractor safety and Health and Safety.
I have been Deputy Head for the last year and in this time Ive taken on the role of maintaining 1st team pitches with a small team to organise.
Being in England and trying to find a job abroad is hard and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to approach workplaces Id love to hear from you.
Thanks, Sam

Sam,
What you have to rememeber in Aus & NZ, the grounds are either owned by trusts or the council. Clubs just use them...
Contact them direct or a major contractor like Programmed...
Good luck.

Hi Jamie
first thing you need to look at is, can you get the appropriate work visa? if yes, then you could post an advert on here or an other industry website looking for work, working for a contractor would be a good way to go, it would give you a chance to work and learn about the industry and not be stuck in the same spot.
good luck Pryde

I've previously had a working holiday visa so that visa is not an option. It would be great if I could find an employer who would be willing to sponsor me. However my wife is a nurse so we will no doubt go down the visa option with her profession. What's the job situation like for ground staff at the moment? I'm always on pitchcare, agcsa and tgaa.

You would need a work visa gained through the skilled migrant catergory. ANZSCO number is for Greenkeeper, or Nurse if you want to use your wife's occupation.
I would contact councils in your desired area (GC) and major contractors like Programmed, Downer, etc.
Otherwise Pitchcare Oceania site, Seek, etc...
Good Luck,
Jamie

Just out of interest...what are kind of wage brackets for each position in golf in QLD?
What would a deputy or an assistant be looking at realistically?
Its good to know what kind of money is being offered. I dont want to either sell myself short...or be unrealistic and over price myself!
Cheers
