Message Board - Website Feedback: Mr angry!!!

Mr angry!!!

I have just made two attempts at a comprehensive reply to Stews question on cricket loam in the Turf section. Both times having spent over half-an-hour each time writing the reply, when I pressed the save message I have been told that I have to register first. WHICH I ALREADY HAD DONE!
Is there a time limit for staying on line whilst writng a message? If so it needs extending.
Stew.
Sorry mate but I did try!

Time out

I am afraid that timing out is a common problem on the net. Indeed there are many times when I am loading articles through our backoffice database, that it will time out. I have been led to believe, that somewhere in explorer, maybe in properties, there is a tab which you can set a time limit of idling before you get timed out. I will speak with my web developer tommorrow and let you know Peter if there is anything else.

Thanks...

for your swift reply David.
I hope you can do something as at the moment the the time limit seriously restricts the depth of answer that can be given to questions, especially when you type at 2 words a minute like me!!!

Time out

I have spoken to our web developer, he looke at our coding which allows 120 minutes idle time on the website. He suggests that the problem lies with your ISP, and at this stage cannot offer any better advice. My advice is to type a response in word or note pad, then go on-line and copy and paste it in the message box. If you're not sure how then please contact me(Dave) on 01902 824392.

disconnecting

Peter, Sorry if what I am about to add doesn't help but are you getting disconnected from the net completely? If so have you checked your "disconnect if Idle" box isn't set too low? If using Explorer within the tools button, click on Internet Options. Choose the Connections tab, then highlight your default Dial-up server and click Settings. Click on Advanced button in Dial up Settings and then uncheck or adjust the time of the "disconnect if idle" box. Hope this helps! Martin

What was happening was the following.
I log in to pitchcare using my id and password.
Click on Message Board.
Read message from Stew and click on reply to message.
Spend 1/2 hour replying to message.
Click on save message.
Message appears saying sorry you have to sign in.
Go back to sign in (again).
My reply disappears.
Expletives pour from my mouth.
Try the whole thing again.
Same result.
More and even stronger expletives.

Just in case.

Martin.
Just in case I have given the impression of being less than happy with Pitchcare.com. I should make it clear that I think it is an excellent idea which I fully support and want to be involved with whenever I get the chance.
As far as my typing speed goes, I could go on about what happened, but it's taken me 4 hours to type this bit and I don't want to get timed out so bye for now!!!!!
