What is the best height to cut a soccer ground at?
Is there a set grass height FIFA have or football Australia?

gold coast united play at skilled park and the turf is winter green couch and is cut at 25mm . and plays very well at that height .

Ground has looked awesome again surely the stadium is a shoe in to win A League ground of the year this year? Bugger off Suncorp and bring the trophey south

Unfortunately Pete it's very hard for rye grass pitches to compete with couch based fields that are in good condition from north of the border, particularly in the criteria for ball speed.
Knowing that your patch of turf agronomically and aesthetically is in as good of condition as you can get it is everybody's aim and everything else should look after itself.

JML interesting point you make about the couch base.
I know AAMI laid down the couch base when the ground was put down but how much of that would be around now? Can a Melbourne elite ground sustain any couch through winter?
I know our suburban grounds keep a 100% cover over winter but they obviously dont overseed.
Would our grounds be better if we didnt overseed? Is overseeding purely for aesthetics?
How do greenkeepers earn a living!!! ;-)
