Message Board - Cricket: Outfield Australia vs NZ at Hamilton

Avatar: superman b avat 11 Mar 2010 by Peter Bass

Just wondering if anyone watched the boring thumping Australia handed out to NZ at Seddon Park the other night?

Any thoughts on the outfield? What was it meant to be?

Personally I wasn't a big fan what's wrong with the old fashion stripes nowadays? It just looked like the field handn't been cut properly to me.
Which was a shame as its such a lovely ground.

You could also see scuff marks all over it as especially on the run ups as it had been cut in the same direction almost all over the ground.

I'm all for trying new things but surely this pattern is a big fat F.

I actually like the circle-cut patterns, especially for cricket.

I thought the MCG's wavey lines were fantastic for the Twenty20 matches, and should be limited to those matches.

I am a bit of a traditionalist and like the straight-pattern cut, like Etihad Stadium do for Soccer and AFL and MCG do for AFL.

Regarding the NZ outfields, they have looked tremendous.
I think that the grass type would almost certainly be wintergrass as it was just a dense, tight sward, and they way they have done it without seeing wheelmarks looks even better, so i guess 'slick' turf tyres were used.

I agree NZ fields have looked a treat lush and very green.

However cant say i liked the pattern that was cut in for this game looked hideous

Kiwi's vs Australia anyone haha

The MCG has had the best outfield of any ground in Oceania all year.

Even looks amazing for the shield final this week.
