exhibitions too close together

Just come back from Groundex at Aintree (Wed 18/09). Very quiet, and disappointed with stands and range. Perhaps Saltex is to close in terms of timing and if people have been to Saltex (bigger show) why go to Groundex. Pperhaps the IOG should move one Groundex possible to new year. Suppose weather and venue plus BIGGA H arrogate show may have another bearing.

Ground to a halt

I know what you mean, I went today and felt sorry for the exhibitors-there was no one there. A complete waste of time, effort and money-just meant half a day off work for me though.

shows

why not move saltex to the midlands area so it is more accessible to everyone and do away with groundex,it was poor last year as well

exhibitions too close

we used to show at saltex but found it takes a whole week out of the most vital time of the year for us. why not reschedule the shows for july time when everything is quiet but the weather is usually ok? and yes lee, a show in the midlands would be great, not only from a selfish point of view, but it's the old wembley argument, everyone can access somewhere like the NEC or similar, good sportsgrounds are available just off the m42

shows

well as a southern boy i do feel u northern sorts are being a bit unfair!(joke) We all want the show near where we live but i feel the true answer is windsor!!!! I will agree that there needs to be one or two shows and they need to be really good, get loads of grounds related people there and put on a great few days. These two shows (all joking apart) should cater for the whole country, its up to you all to think where the centeral point is! one sad thing is that there are many many big companies pulling out and not showing at any show(this is not good)if there are only one or two shows may be they will come back?
As for this years SALTEX I thought the show was reasonable, but spread out far too much (why put loads of play stuff near the enterance??)I also think that pitch cares idea was tops, most people i know told me about that bike (that one i should have won) The last point i have about all of these shows is, that if nothing more they get groundsmen country wide together to chat about things and see new and old ideas at work!!!!
