scarifing cricket square

HI we have a lot of moss and thatch and bare patches on the square. After the last match we will treat the sqare with a moss killer. We are looking for the best machine to hire to scarify to get all this out.We have used local hire shops but found that the machines they have inadiquate. At what depth should we go down.
Are there any tips, or can anyone advise if they know anyone local to leeds that can be hired to do the job properly.

Graden Deep Scarifier

Ideal for cricket wickets (that what the Aussies designed it for)& for anyother fine turf areas. Speak to Steve Rouse (I'm sure he won't mind) at Edgbaston County Cricket, I believe he's evaluating the machine on Monday.

scarification

i would recommend the sisis mk4 rotorake also
depth to go to would depend upon the depth of thatch (dead or decaying matter) found through
taking a core sample from the wickets

Be careful

The adviceyou have recieved is spot on but bevery creful if you use the Graden. It is an excellent machine which I have just used in conjunction with a Koro topmaker on some of my grass courts, but it is a beast and if you go too low you could have problems. If the problem is only on the surface, then one of the less heavy duty machines already suggested will be your best bet.
Good luck.

scarifing

Thanks for information, have got sorted, but the graden machine to hire is £400 + vat. We as a small club cannot find this sort of money.
