The LIGATURF football pitch at Hensley Fields has won the unreserved praise of players, game officials and facility stakeholders and is designed to meet 2 Star FIFA Quality Concept for Football Turf testing. Hensley Fields

"This is without a doubt the best facility in the Super League" said Under 13 head coach George Makridopolus who went on to say "the players love it because it gives a true bounce while allowing them to play two-touch football without any grass burns"

"At training, they simply went crazy and were training their hearts out. This is an amazing facility and one which allows for good quality football" said Theo Fotopoulos Under 15 head coach and parent Bill Hyde.

Hensley FieldsThe facility was funded by the Government's $800 million Community Infrastructure Program and will be the new home ground for the Super League outfit, Sydney University. City of Botany Bay Mayor Ron Hoening said at the opening that the facility is the focal point of Sydney sport, that millions of dollars had been poured into the Hensley facility and he still marvels at what has been done.

Hensley was officially opened on Saturday 14 August and consists of a full size LIGATURF football pitch, POLIGRAS D Section training ground and SPURTAN BS competition athletics track, all designed, manufactured and constructed by STI.

The Hensley Field's facility has a reputation for making history. The very first all weather synthetic running track was unveiled at Hensley Fields in 1973 and now again the facility can boast a state-of-the-art track surface in the SPURTANT BS, an IAAF approved elite competition athletic track.

Having a LIGATURF pitch and a SPURTAN athletics track at the one facility certainly holds Hensley Fields in good stead as the facility aims to play a role in the Australian 2022 World Cup bid. Both LIGATURF and SPURTAN are internationally recognised elite sports surfaces.
