MELBOURNE’S RECTANGULAR STADIUM
Despite its long history with sport, Melbourne has lacked a stadium purpose built for football codes which use a rectangular playing field. The new $267.5 million Melbourne Rectangular Stadium fills that gap. With capacity for over 30,000 patrons and featuring a cutting edge ‘bio-frame’ roof design, the stadium provides extensive seat coverage and excellent spectator sight lines. The new stadium will take Melbourne into Europe and Asia and will become an enduring image of the qualities that represent the best of Victoria.
Michael Loterzo, General Manager of Grocon and Patrick Ness, Director of Cox Architects and Planners will discuss the design and construction of AAMI Park and the new home for sport in Melbourne.
