Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce it has been selected by Scottford Hospitality to oversee the improvement project at Makaha Resort & Golf Club, nestled in the beautiful Makaha Valley near Honolulu, Hawaii.
Makaha Resort & Golf Club
Tucked within the base of the rugged cliffs of the Waianae Mountains that border Oahu’s pristine western shore, Makaha Resort & Golf Club features magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean from the 18-hole course. Designed by William F. Bell to accent the stunning natural landscape, the championship course has been highly acclaimed for its conditioning and beauty. A major multi-million dollar improvement project lead by Troon Golf is planned, paying tribute to the historical authenticity of Makaha Resort & Golf Club. The facility will remain open during the entire project, which is targeted at making several enhancements to improve the playability and overall experience on the golf course.

“Makaha Resort & Golf Club is a beautiful property located in a very unique and desirable destination,” stated John Easterbrook, executive vice president of operations, Troon Golf. “We are very pleased to be involved and look forward to delivering an exceptional golf experience that will carry and represent the Troon Golf brand at the completion of the renovation project.”

The classic par 72 course calls for a variety of shots that challenge professionals and amateurs alike and its location provides the perfect setting for a Hawaiian vacation. In fact, Hawaii's royalty used Makaha Valley for recreation decades before a pristine golf course graced the valley floor. The peacocks seen and heard throughout the area serve as a reminder to this bit of history. They were originally given as a gift from King Kamehameha V to the owner of the historic Makaha Valley Ranch more than 100 years ago.

“The partnership with Troon Golf brings the first critical phase of improvements and upgrades to Makaha Resort & Golf Club,” stated Rick Layton, resort & golf club general manager.” We look forward to the expertise that Troon Golf provides and the opportunity to see the property restored to its magnificent splendor.

The resort facility at Makaha consists of 173 guest rooms with garden, ocean and golf course views available. Amenities include an ocean view restaurant and lounge, banquet rooms, tennis courts, and spa services to name a few. Makaha Resort & Golf Club is managed by Scottford Hospitality based in Atlanta Ga.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., Troon Golf is the world’s largest golf management company, overseeing operations at properties located in 31 states and 26 countries.
