The WA Football Commission has set up a working group with the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers to push for a redevelopment of Subiaco Oval. The State Government has shelved plans for a new multi-purpose stadium in Perth because of the global economic downturn. Subiaco Oval

But Mr Demetriou says Subiaco is not big enough and needs to be upgraded. "Everybody acknowledges that the Subiaco stadium is probably the least adequate of all our grounds around Australia.

WA Premier Colin Barnett says Mr Demetriou's comments are fair. The government has not committed to the project.
