Congratulations Frank Dempsey
|
|
It is great to see Frank Dempsey being acknowledged for his many years of hard work, committment and dedication to the turf industry and in particular, teaching.
Frank and Phil Ford were bestowed the AGCSA's highest honour last week when they were named joint recipients of the 2011 AGCSA Distinguished Service Award, presented in partnership with Everiss (formerly Scotts). It was an apt setting for both to be recognised for their many years of diligent work in educating the nation's up and coming turf managers, given that both were part of the initial meeting of the Turf Education Working Group which was formed back at the 2003 conference in Adelaide.
As most of you would be aware Frank is an STA NSW Committee member as has been since the inception of the association. He has been a driving force of the association over the past 10 years and is a highly regarded and respected man and it great to see him be acknowledged for his work. Congratulations Frank.

Turf Alive Review
|
|
Whenever you take on a new event it always come with apprehension and anxiety. Will the turf industry support it? Will it be successful? Well we are pleased to say that the first Turf Alive event was a great day and has received some very positive feedback.
The idea of joining 3 NSW Associations for one event had been in the planning for over 12 months. It was great to see over 240 people attend the event held at Castle Hill Showground. Both greenkeepers and trade exhibitors supported the event well. Turf Alive will stay on the turf industry calendar as an bi-annual event and we hope it continues to grow and develop.
Many thanks to all our presenters for their time and hard work and sharing their knowledge and expertise. Thanks also to the great sponsors and exhibitors of the day, without them this event wouldn't happen. Finally many thanks to all the greenkeepers, superintendents and groundsmen who registered and attended the day. We hope you found it valuable.
A comprehensive wrap up will appear in the next STA magazine and more photos are available on the website.
It was great to work with the NSW Turf Growers and Bowling Greenkeepers Associations for this event and we thank them for joining us on this adventure.
