The Northcote Golf Club was formed in 1963 to play on the newly constructed Northcote Municipal Golf Links in Normanby Ave, Thornbury. It's a tidy little 9 hole course with rivers winding throughout. The course was designed by the respected course designer Sam Berriman and officially opened by the Mayor of Northcote Cr. F.J. Ford JP on December 15th, 1962. An exhibition match with some top amateurs of the time celebrated the opening, including Doug Bachli, 1948 Australian Amateur Champion, 1954 British Amateur Champion, and Tom Crow, 1961 Australian Amateur Champion.

With a brand new chemical shed, wash down area as well as large water tanks and a rain collection system, Northcote have a great set up for a small golf course. The lunch room and office was freshly painted and in good order. There were separate sheds for the workshop and fertilisers, on top of the new chemical and wash down bay sheds.
It was possible to drive into the workshop area, which was adequately stocked considering there is no full time mechanic. It also had plenty of storage space. All in all it was a little cramped with machinery, but it made good use of the room available.
A handy tip would be the roller doors, even on a smaller golf course having electric doors saves heaps of time. When theft is an issue, and doors are constantly being raised and lowered it's well worth the money!
Overall Grade C
