Raynes Bros Australia, a subsidiary of EAAuctions are the exclusive agent in Australia for Autoguide Equipment Ltd in U.K. Specifically speaking, their new 3ft and 4ft Ride on Diesel Cricket Wicket Autorollers ensure that Australia now has a true international competitor to rival some of the locally built rollers that have only ever been available on Australian wickets.

AutoRoller Cricket Wicket RollerThese Autorollers are currently being used on almost all the big grounds and first class wickets in the U.K and are touted as the 'number one rollers in the world.' The Auto Rollers chassis has been around for over 80 years, and although this sees it as looking somewhat antiquated, I can assure you its engine and driveline is state of the art.

"The AutoRoller is the best in the World. The machine is ageless and lasts forever. We roll to a depth of two and a half inches dry down and we can be rolling up to 8-10 hours a day pre-season. It takes 12-16 hours to roll a wicket and the crawl speed on the AutoRoller is spot on for this. It does the job, uses no fuel to speak about and is an all round great tool!" Steve Rouse - Head Groundsman, Edgbaston.

The 4ft 4ARH model has a two cylinder, low emission Kubota diesel engine, which makes for a very smooth and quiet operation. The pre-lubricated bearings on all the roller shafts allow for perfect pitch preparation and the fully hydrostatic transmission and power steering reduce the possibility of surface damage from spillage. They are also fully contained and run on biodegradable oil. Its low profile chassis also ensures that the driver is always in constant contact with his/her wicket.

The 3ft 3ARH Junior model follows the design traditions of its four- foot counterpart, but incorporates new technology, while keeping all the features of the original. Like the original it is smooth and quiet to operate, with a low emission Hatz diesel engine. It also has the pre-lubricated bearings and full hydrostatic transmission and power steering, and has the option of water ballast in rolls. It is designed for simplicity and comfort. It's 1340mm in height, 2475mm in length, and 1090mm in width.

Obviously, the most important requirement of any wicket roller is its weight. With the machines more industrious components, it allows them to tackle almost whatever weight you wish to fill, stack or bolt on to them. As with most other rollers the machines have traditionally been filled with water, concrete or steelcrete (steel shot and cement) and allow the autorollers to achieve the following weights; 3ARH Junior 3 Ft dry 1200 kg water filled 1600 kg concrete 2148 kg steelcrete 3314 kg, 4ARH 4 Ft dry 1675 kg water filled 2175 kg concrete 2948 kg steelcrete 4513 kg. Although these figures represent what is recommended, some of the 4ft Rollers have been sold into the sub continent and have been loaded upwards of 5.8ton.

Both machines have the option of a fully collapsible bimini sunshade retrofitted as per factory specification. This ensures that no matter what storage requirements are available at the ground, they still remain one of the most compact rollers on the market.

Through discussions with people in the turf wicket industry mid 2011, it was clearly evident that there was a lack of quality alternatives in wicket rollers in Australia. As a result of this, Raynes Bros Australia established an exclusive arrangement with Auto Guide Equipment, the U.K supplier, themselves a family business, to supply the Australian and New Zealand markets with their quality products. Although this relationship is only in infant stages, it is clearly evident that this relationship will prosper strongly, as all that have sighted and purchased the rollers so far have had nothing but praise for its reliability, quality and design.

EA Auctions (EAA) is a family run and Australian owned business. They specialise in the remarketing of new and used assets through traditional and online auctions, corporate valuations, fleet purchasing, equipment procurements and brokerage and e-marketing with their online and web broadcasting capabilities.

EA Auctions BuildingAs has been seen in the last twelve months, EAA has access to brand new items. Despite the fact some of them are late model, they are brand new and great deals. They manage to achieve this by buying overseas, when factories are trying to clear their stock at the end of the year. If someone wants a particular model of a machine, EAA is always happy to make some inquiries and assure clients that they will always manage to get it a fair deal cheaper.

EAA have over 48000 clients that they actively deal with in relation to the selling and procuring of assets, however, they are always looking to expand on this significant customer base. Their clients include some of the biggest hire, construction, transport and public companies in Australia and they also do business with numerous council and government departments.

AutoRoller Cricket Wicket RollerEAA also purpose buy for many of their clients, whether it be local or abroad, new and/or used and are encouraging more of their clients to partake in this form of purchasing. With EAA's expertise in plant sales and their contacts both locally and internationally, it ensures buyers get exactly what they want, at the money they want to pay and exactly when they need it. They are doing this by taking notice of their buyers' needs and then giving them an alternative from buying at retail. All the machines EAA sell in this fashion are typically known brands, and in most cases identical to those locally delivered by Australian dealers but typically with between a 20-25% saving off retails.

In the last few years EAA have dedicated some serious time to their website in an attempt to keep up with the ever changing marketplace. At present it sees almost all things described in detail with photos and videos and offers subscribers free email and MMS notifications once a fortnight about the next auction. From this notification, it will link you straight to the next catalogue for the upcoming auction. Be sure to sign up to take advantage of their listings.

2011 saw EAA host 36 traditional in-house and onsite auctions together with a further 17 dedicated online, with sales totalling over $20 million for the year. These figures have steadily climbed since the business started all those years ago back in 1995.

EAA moved into their purpose built 6 acre facility conveniently located at 22 Steele Crt Tullamarine, Victoria, over 3 years ago. This site has over 3000m2 warehouse space, a further 10000m2 hardstand facility and 2kms of frontage to the Western Ring Rd; and as such has ensured our clients assets have great exposure to those driving by. With their new website, and the huge success of their online sales, they also have access to regular sites throughout Australia that see them able to sell any asset, under any pretence, at any time.

With regards to any form selling, EAA's aim is to provide clients with the highest quality of service in the distribution of accurate, up to date and in-depth information, in regards to their particular business requirement. Coupled with the very experienced staff at EAA, customers are able to decide on the most appropriate approaches to take to ensure the maximum return on their investments. EA Auctions Logo

Good roller

Personally I think the 4ft model is too wide. The 3ft model filled with concrete would do a better job.

Expensive.

What happened to your first comment Shannon??

You were just saying you have one but don't use it anymore as it's to light, loud and hot have you changed your mind lol

Have you used them Willard?
How much are they compared to the Mentay, are they the same in comparison to say a Mentay 2000?

19 Jan 2012 by Willard

Yeah I used them in UK. 3ft concrete filled one would do a similar job to a mentay. Except you would sit on it instead of walk behind. Would like to see a price comparision...

Pricing on plain 3ft Autoguide is $20K + GST and 4ft Autoguide is around 27-28K + GST subject to currency.

There are options for weight increases and canopies that can bring up the $$$ a bit but it would still be cheaper than our rivals you mentioned earlier.

Our machines all have diesel engines across the range and over 80 years of histopry and development. We are also making every concerted effort to listen to feedback and offer great service to those that have taken the leap into purchasing an Autoguide rolller.

There are 8 out there on the market so far and welcome any further questions
