Wagga's premier sporting venue Robertson Oval has been ruled out for the entire winter sporting season.

Wagga City's Robertson OvalWagga City Council yesterday confirmed the sporting community's worst fears that the $7.1 million Robertson Oval redevelopment will not be completed in time for the football season. Project manager Jarrod Bryant put the delay down to the recent wet weather and flooding.

Wagga mayor Kerry Pascoe said it was a tough call to make. "Not allowing any play at Robertson Oval this season was a very tough decision," Pascoe said.

The project was scheduled to be completed by the end of April.
