Townsville-based business, Rising Sun Honda, has been named Australia's Number One Dealer at Honda Power Equipment's prestigious gala awards ceremony at Hyatt Regency Coolum.

HPE officials including Managing Director, Zenjiro Sakurai, Director, Robert Toscano, General Manager, Vikram Pawah, and National Sales Manager, Ray Briffa, presented Rising Sun Honda with its award and offered congratulations for its outstanding performance during the 2009-10 Japanese financial year.

"There's no doubt that the credit for a large portion of Honda Power Equipment's success lay with our network of professional dealerships throughout Australia," Mr Sakurai said.

"The staff working at these dealerships are our front line - those providing the expert advice and customer service which ensure people keep returning to the premium Honda brand.

"Rising Sun Honda has gone over and above the high levels of customer service, presentation and sales volume that are expected of Honda Power Equipment dealerships throughout Australia.

"The distinction of being named Australia's Number One Dealer is fitting for Rising Sun Honda, which this year celebrates its 35th anniversary as a Honda dealer.

"During the past 35 years, the name 'Rising Sun Honda' has become synonymous with success. In fact, this is the second consecutive year in which the dealership has received the accolade of being named Australia's Number One Dealer.

"Not only does Rising Sun Honda excel in the power equipment arena, it has also been named Australia's Number One motorcycle dealer on more than 20 occasions.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate the team at Rising Sun Honda on their outstanding effort, along with the 27 other dealer award recipients who were recognised at the August gala awards ceremony."

To be considered for the Australia's Number One Dealership award, HPE dealers must:
# Achieve the highest number of units sold in Australia during the Japanese financial year
# Reach their unit sales target
# Achieve growth from the previous year
# Sell the full range of Honda Power Equipment.

Almost 500 attendees, including Honda Power Equipment dealers, family and staff, were on hand to celebrate this year's dealership award winners.

Rising Sun Honda Principal, Bernie Koppe, was delighted to be named Australia's Number One Dealer for a second consecutive year.

"I'd just like to say a big thank-you to all 57 of our staff. This award is recognition of their work as much as mine," Mr Koppe said.

Rising Sun Honda began trading as a dedicated Honda outlet in 1984 after almost a decade selling a variety of brands from its Townsville headquarters. Today, Rising Sun's giant store occupies around half of an 11,000 square metre site.

Mr Koppe says the secret to Rising Sun Honda's enduring success is a genuine belief in the Honda product.

"I just love Honda products," Mr Koppe said.

"They're easy to sell, there are never any warranty problems and above all else, Honda Power Equipment is reliable. We know it and our customers know it, and that's part of the reason why we've been so successful."
