Soil Testing Procedures in the Turf Industry
Murray Fraser, Sydney Environmental & Soil Laboratory
Kurri Kurri STA conference
Murray’s speciality areas include:
- design and documentation of sports fi eld construction and renovation
- assessment and understanding of physical properties of growing media and amendments
- quality control of construction and renovation projects to ensure intended outcomes
- chemical and physical testing of soil, sand and soilless media
With several hundred sports fi eld assessments under his belt, Murray is well qualifi ed to discuss all aspects of sports field design, construction and maintenance. Murray is often regarded as the “go to man” for diagnostic work when things go wrong. And invariably the problems are a result of poor construction and a failure to understand the fundamental principles of soil science.

In addition there will be Industry presentations on:
The Role of Calcium in Turfgrass Nutrition, Paul Jackson, Barmac / Globe Australia Analysis Without Paralysis, Using information technology for better turf surfaces, Rob Cooper, Living Turf Latest Research Results from Bayer, Paul Conradt, Bayer Environmental Science, and presentations from Sustainable Turf Renovations and Toro Australia
