PGG Wrightson Turf is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Ford to the position of Turf Agronomist to support our growing Turf seed business in Australia.
Phil joins the Turf seed division with an extensive background in the Sports Turf industry; he is a well-known and respected industry figure who will assist the Turf team and their distributors nationally. Phil will be based at the PGG Wrightson Turf Research Facility in Ballarat Victoria.
Phil's educational achievements include an Agricultural Science degree from Melbourne University and a Master's Degree from Sydney University. He is currently undertaking a PhD at Ballarat University researching the link between sports ground traction and hardness, and the association to player injury.
Phil's passion for education led him to develop the first Turf Management Diploma course in Australia and from 1984-2008 he taught Turf at Northern Melbourne TAFE. In 2009 he was awarded the Victorian Golf Course Superintendents Association industry award, and in 2011 the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association 'Distinguished Service Award' for his contribution to turf education in Australia.
PGG Wrightson Turf is part of PGG Wrightson Seeds, the largest breeder and producer of turf and forage grasses in the Southern Hemisphere.
PGG Wrightson Turf is unique in the Australasian turf seed market as they are the only company who breed and produce their own seed varieties specifically for that market. Backed by a comprehensive research and development programme, PGG Wrightson Turf's customers know they are getting the very best seed cultivars available and that they are fully tested in their local environment
