Siam Country ClubA new paradise for golfers, the 27-hole Plantation Course at Siam Country Club in Pattaya Thailand is now open. It features Asia's only triple green. The grand opening of the New Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation is scheduled for May.

The Siam Motors Group affiliate earlier spent 225 million baht on a complete renovation and upgrade of the 18-hole course and renamed it Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course.

The renovation brought Siam Country Club to an international championship standard and it has been chosen as the venue for international tournaments such as the Honda LPGA Thailand 2007.

According to Mr Phornthep, also the president of Siam Motors Group, the company moved ahead to develop a new golf course called New Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation to serve the rising demand of tourists at home and abroad, especially Thai professional golfers and amateurs.

It spent about 600 million baht, excluding the land costs, to develop a 27-hole, par 72, 7,450-yard complex that was designed by Schmidt-Curley Design Co on 670 rai of land, about five kilometres away from the old course.

Mr Phornthep said the Plantation Course was operated by Sombat Thavorn Co, a subsidiary of the Phornprapha family, which owned Siam Motors while the old course was run by Siam Country Club.

The Plantation Course also features a modern clubhouse overlooking the green and equipped with a pro shop, lockers and function rooms.

He said both golf courses, with a total of 45 holes, were ready to serve Thai and foreign tourists, businessmen and business operators in Pattaya.
