Melbourne Rectangular Stadium The cost of a new Melbourne super stadium that will house the Storm, Demons and Victory teams in a unique tri-code arrangement has blown out by $50 million, and Victorian taxpayers will have to foot the bill.

The stadium, to be built on public land near Olympic Park in the shadows of the MCG, will now cost $320 million to build, after the budget busted through the initial $270 million estimation. The Victorian Government will have to pick up the shortfall, with the Melbourne Footbal Club and the Olympic Parks Trust indicating they are unable to contribute further.
