The ARL and NRL both use PILA goal posts for events and season launches so it was natural that PILA group were contacted by Channel 9 and The Footy Show to supply good quality goal posts for Hazem El Maseri’s hHazem El Masri’s kick for Goalistoric re-enactment of the time when Hazem El Masri officially beat Andrew Johns to become the leagues leading point scorer.

The re-enactment took place in the Channel 9 studios car park during The Footy Show so PILA had to set up the goals in a very short time frame and stabilise them on top of the asphalt car park to ensure the safety of the spectators and stars of the show. Custom bases were manufactured for extra stability to allow for 9m goals to be stable on unlevel ground and in the case of high winds on the night.

PILA National Sales Manager Michael Reid said “the night was perfect for the kick. The entire PILA team went along to the show and we were lucky enough to be given guest tickets so we could set the posts up and then enjoy watching the show and see Hazem kick the historic goal through our posts. It always feels good to be a part of history and again on this occasion PILA goals went down as a part of rugby league history.”

PILA Managing Director Reece Wooldridge added “you could bet your house Hazem will not miss when he kicks for goal, especially from 20m out right in front, but as luck had it he missed and hit the top of the upright on his first attempt! Our goals felt the Magic touch!

He didn’t miss second time around though. It was quite a sight to watch the best in the business kick through our goal posts. It is something we will all remember at PILA.”

PILA rugby league goals are designed in a 2-piece format to allow easy transportation to and around the event site. The goals are then assembled on site and are easily stood by 2 men with no need for tools or machinery, preventing damage to the site surface.

To make installation even easier, PILA uses an exclusive custom bracket system to clamp the cross bar to the uprights. The brackets are adjustable at both ends of the crossbar so the crossbar can be levelled even if the ground is uneven.
