The Greater Western Sydney Giants on Friday celebrated the launch of the club's new home, Skoda Stadium at the Sydney Showground.

The Premier of NSW Barry O'Farrell, Sports Minister Graeme Annesley and the Managing Director of Skoda Australia, Matthew Weisner joined Giants Chairman, Tony Shepherd, CEO David Matthews and Head Coach Kevin Sheedy at the Showground at Sydney Olympic Park. Skoda Stadium

Mr. Shepherd was thrilled with the contingent that joined the club at Skoda Stadium and thanked the NSW Government, the Royal Agricultural Society, Skoda and the AFL for all of their help and support in the redevelopment of the Giants new home. "It's with tremendous excitement and anticipation that we gather here today at what will be the new home ground for the Greater Western Sydney Giants, Skoda Stadium.

"This redevelopment of the Showgrounds wouldn't have been possible without three key partners who are all here today - the New South Wales Government, the Royal Agricultural Society and the AFL.

"As you can see today, the stadium is really starting to take shape and we can't wait for the Giants to play their first home game here against Essendon on May 26 next year.

"What a match that will be with the master coach Kevin Sheedy pitted against his former captain and apprentice James Hird. "I'm confident this 25,000 seat stadium will be sold out for what we will be a landmark event here in Sydney.

"This stadium will not only showcase the Giants' exciting young team but it will also provide state of the art facilities for our members and fans.

"The stadium will also boast the very best facilities for media and broadcasters as well as hospitality and corporate areas.

"I also want to acknowledge the Giants' major partner Skoda which will have naming rights to the stadium for Giants home games and in particular thank Matt Wiesner for his support.
