Repairing the flood-damaged Ipswich Golf Club has helped 19 job seekers to gain new skills through a government-funded employment project.

Ipswich Golf ClubMember for Ipswich Ian Berry congratulated the group on completing 18 weeks of paid work as well as earning the construction industry White Card and four units from the Certificate II in Horticulture.

Challenge Employment and Training organised the project with the Ipswich Golf Club.

"This project has played an important role in providing people with income and new skills while restoring the Ipswich Golf Club," Mr Berry said

The Ipswich Golf Club has been part of the Ipswich community since it's establishment in 1897, the Club is currently enjoying its 115th year of operation.The Club is entering an exciting phase with the recent opening of a brand new 18 hole championship golf course designed by Wayne Grady and has just completed a Clubhouse refurbishment and new car park. Ipswich Golf Club is the premier member owned golf facility in the Ipswich Region
