Funds Boost Jindalee Bowls Club

With only part of the sign on top of the roof visible during the January flood, it comes as no surprise the repair bill for the Jindalee Bowls Club was astronomical.Warwick Smith and Shyam Verma at the Jindalee Bowls Club

Close to $400,000 has been spent refurbishing the club, and last week they received another boost when Forest Lake IGA owner Shyam Verma presented them with a cheque for $2000 which has been raised by their Community Chest program. Vice president Brian McCormick said the club saw themselves as a community facility, and even more so after the floods.

"The bulk of the work has been done, we're just finishing it all off," he said. "(And this amount) is certainly not small, it makes a difference."

Mr Verma said the money had been raised through the sale of IGA Community Chest products in the store. "A small percentage of the sale of the products goes into the community chest," he said.
