Forbes Services Club yesterday confirmed that it had sold the Golf Club, ending speculation about the future of the two-storey clubhouse.
Services Club general manager, David Fitzgerald, said yesterday that the building had been sold and he believed the new owners planned to re-establish licensed premises. Mr Fitzgerald said he preferred not to disclose the final sale price until the Services Club held its annual general meeting later this year, however agents Ray White had previously advertised the asking price was $658,900.
Mr Fitzgerald said he expected the sale would be finalised relatively quickly. "Settlement should occur in six to eight weeks, which I would think would be mid-to-late August and the new owners will then take occupancy of the premises," he said.
He said the sale was a good result for the Services Club and the broader community. "I think it's good news for the community at large," Mr Fitzgerald said.
The Services Club general manager said the sale ended a two year process, which included the subdivision of the clubhouse and surrounding land, and parts of the golf course.
