Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien was stunned by his first look at the Flemington track.
O'Brien walked Flemington on Wednesday along with track manager Terry Watson, Coolmore Australia business and racing manager Tom Magnier and Coolmore PR man James Bester.
"I couldn't believe it. It's a world-class track. It's unbelievable," O'Brien said.
"I was very impressed. It's some track. A big galloping track, super consistency through the ground.
"I didn't know what to expect, really, but there is not many better tracks in the world than that.
"If there is any, I can't think of them."
O'Brien said the track had felt like good to firm ground, which he said would suit Coolmore's Melbourne Cup runner Mahler.
He said the prospect of 120,000 on Cup Day would not be an issue for Mahler, who will be the youngest of the 24 runners.
