New floodlights might be installed at Daly Oval in a bid to make night football and cricket a permanent fixture.

Campbelltown Council voted this month to investigate the cost of upgrading the lights at the Magill oval. The Fisher St ground is home to the Hectorville Sports and Community Club, which hosts football, cricket, netball and athletics.
Daly Oval Lights Up
Club president Claudio Spina said new lights would allow night games, increasing crowds and revenue. Mr Spina said the upgrade would also attract more involvement. "We could get kids playing on Friday nights," Mr Spina said.

Mr Spina said the new lights would need to be higher to illuminate the entire oval for matches.

Mixed view from residents
Nearby residents have backed plans for new floodlights at Daly Oval.

Adrienne Peele said she would visit the oval more often if new lights were installed. "Since daylight saving is ending, we could walk around at night with more light and feel safer," Ms Peele said.

However, Trevor Weinert expressed concerns about noise generated from night games. "We have a timber frame (house) so we hear everything so we definitely wouldn't like noise after 10pm."
