Green Horticultural Group were appointed as the successful tenderer by the Land and Property Management Authority (LPMA) and the Department of Education and Training (DET) to undertake the resurfacing of the sportsfield, as well as the irrigation and tank installation at Cheltenham Girls High School.

The existing oval was in poor condition as it had previously been used to house portable classrooms and had existing footings and undulations throughout the site.

The directive to undertake works in the school holiday break, followed by a 4 week maintenance period, was hindered by extreme wet weather, however we were able to complete the works within strict timelines provided.

The scope of works for the project included:

* Establish a safe and secure site - installation of temporary fencing and signage
* Application of complete knockdown herbicide
* Cultivation and removal of all debris and spoil
* Supply, spread and level turf underlay and fertiliser in preparation for turfing
* Supply and lay 5,200m2 of kikuyu maxi rolls
* Lay concrete pad to support 20,000 litre water tank
* Install and connect water to existing water tank and town supply
* Install and connect Hunter ICC 8 station controller and re-divert 3 phase power
* Full poly pipe installation
* Install, set and programme 32 Hunter 135 sprinklers.

LPMA, DET and the school Principal commented on the professionalism, work ethic and attention to the required timings. The finished project exceeded expectations and the school now has a fully operational sporting surface to accommodate the variety of sports offered.
