Ouyen Tennis Club is looking at replacing its grass courts with synthetic surfaces. Club committee member Deane Munro said that for the club to ensure its future, it would have to move to synthetic courts as the maintenance of lawn courts continued to be a strain on the small committee.

Not the most gripping of titles I know, but I see more problems with this artificial sports surface than most others. The actual management requirement of these surfaces is low in comparison to grass and with the added benefit that they sustain high volumes of repetitive wear, normally recover from bad weather with ease, produce good playability performance factors and are fairly cheap to maintain.
