Ballarat Golf Club is now open and is being enjoyed by Members.
Ballarat Golf Course
The Honourable John Brumby Premier of Victoria addressed the 220 guests before unveiling a commemorative plaque. Later in the evening Peter Thomson enjoyed an entertaining discussion with MC David Maloney, before hitting the official ball down the 1st fairway that set off a spectacular fireworks display.

Although the course will benefit greatly from a little time and growing-in period, the Members are already enjoying the improved layout and conditions, and it has all the makings of a great course given the course structure and strategy.

Thomson Perrett designed the project aware of their responsibility to the environment and the culture and the heritage of The City of Ballarat. Ross Perrett said “Our brief was to replicate the character of the old course, using some adjoining farmland to incorporate a residential development. Extensive earthworks created an undulating landscape and a series of creeks and wetlands, which drains the site and captures runoff water from both the golf course and surrounding real estate. The site now has vast irrigation water storage and soil and turf quality have been greatly improved, providing all year playability. A classic18 hole championship parkland style course on a much-improved site has been achieved.”
