The use of Colonial browntop (Agrostis capillaris) as a golfing surface has in recent years taken a backward step to other grasses, in particular Poa annua. However, in light of the environmental and financial pressures, which are becoming a reality for many New Zealand Golf Clubs, it is timely to revisit the use of browntop.
