Four months on, Morack golf course has just about recovered from a hoon attack on its greens.
The scars of the vandalism remain after the course was targeted three times in one week in June. But course superintendent Mick Gossip is confident that in a couple of weeks “it will be as good as gold”. “It has come back well it’s probably at 90 per cent now, but not as good as it could have been,” he said. “The good thing is there has been no more damage so the advertising and publicity has probably been a deterrent.”
The public course was hit with a bill for around $30,000 in damage and lost revenue after the attacks. Whitehorse Council has made a significant investment in the course in recent times, including $200,000 for maintenance in the present budget.
