Magazine: Demolition of Perry Lakes Stadium Underway

The demolition of Perry Lakes Stadium in the Perth suburb of Floreat has commenced. 
A toilet block at the stadium has been knocked over and work on demolishing the grandstand and track will commence once a new facilty is available.
The stadium was built for the Commonwealth Games in 1962, and seated up to 30,000 people. The State Government last year awarded a tender to BGC for the construction of a new athletics stadium and another facility with eight basketball courts.
The new stadium is due to be completed early next year.
