Magazine: Parkland appointed the New Zealand distributor for Metzerplas

By Parkland Press in Appointments on 28th Aug 2008 6:05

Parkland offers a wide range of drip line and tape products including Drip In and Aquatraxx. Now the Company has been appointed thParklande New Zealand distributor for Metzerplas, a leading Israeli irrigation manufacturer with more than 35 years experience.

ModeMetzerplasrn drip irrigation has arguably become the world’s most important innovation in agriculture since the invention of the impact sprinkler in the 1930s. Drip irrigation minimizes the use of water and fertiliser by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either onto the soil surface or directly into the root zone.

Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) uses permanently or temporarily buried dripper line or drip tape located at or below the plant roots. It is becoming popular for row crop irrigation, especially in areas where water supplies are limited or recycled water is used for irrigation. Parkland’s new Metzerplas range has some fantastic products - Metzerplas Vardit drip tube being a case in point. There are several unique features of this product that present new options for designers and growers to ensure greatest possible cost and energy effectiveness. Metzerplas

The Metzerplas Vardit dripper has a very low profile. It takes up less room inside the tube, and compared to some other drippers, a lot less room. As the water passes over the dripper, the low profile means that the pressure loss is reduced, resulting in a longer run length for a given input pressure or simply the use of less energy for a given length.

Vardit drippers are all pressure compensating. Regardless of dripper flow rate, the Vardit dripper in a 0.9 mm wall thickness tube can be used up to a pressure of 3.5 Bar. Comparative products can only be used effectively to 2.5 Bar. This provides designers and growers greater flexibility and real cost saving potential. If there is an elevation difference or long run length needed, the tube will be able to work effectively over a greater range, resulting in a lower cost system with fewer valves and simpler sub-mains. Or if you need even longer run lengths, input pressure can simply be increased with the option to use Vardit with a 1.15 mm wall thicknesMetzerplass, which will allow for operating pressures up to 4.3 Bar.

The Metzerplas filter area on the top of the Vardit dripper is larger than similar products. Also there are 7 individual inlets into the dripper within the Metzerplas filter array.

Some drippers just have a single point of entry once that is blocked the dripper will cease to function correctly. Another key feature is the width of the passage ways inside the Vardit dripper. They are larger and, when combined with the large filter area, provide excellent resistance to blockage. The Vardit dripper has a unique sloped flow labyrinth which the diaphragm compensates against, not just against a single hole and small annulus like most other drippers do. This feature is shared with other drippers in the Metzerplas range and is what helps to provide accurate and highly uniform flow rates and
higher operating pressure capability.

With the increasing trend toward sub-surface drip, Metzerplas offer a complete product range from tape to tube, all with Rootguard capability to provide worry free systems that can be buried, delivering water straight to the plant root system.

Parkland Products carries an extensive range of drip line and tape. Whatever you need we have it. Drip tube diameters 13 mm, 16mm, 17mm and 18mm with emitters at 0.4m, 0.5m and 0.6m spacings and flow rates from 1.1 litres per hour. And Aquatraxx tape with every conceivable wall thickness and spacing.
