Magazine: SUNCORP Stadium to Host Socceroos

SUNCORP Stadium will host the Socceroos in their World Cup qualifier in June.
After weeks of haggling with the Queensland Government over the commercial arrangements for the match, the Football Federation of Australia will today announce the clash between Australia and Iraq will be played in Brisbane on June 1.
Relationships between the Government and FFA have soured over the league's backdown on the introduction of two new Queensland teams in the A-League for next season. It is understood a deal had been struck for the sides to play their games out of Dairy Farmers Stadium in Townsville and Skilled Park at Robina.
The FFA will also reveal a line-up of five Socceroos matches over five weeks, including the return bout with China at Sydney's ANZ Stadium.
Australia will also play a return clash with Qatar. The matches will be broadcast live on Foxtel.
The Socceroos are expected to field a close to full-strength side for the clash with Iraq, but star midfielder Tim Cahill is almost certain to be ineligible with a broken foot. Cahill will miss the remainder of Everton's English Premier League campaign. He faces a race against time to be fit to take some part in the Socceroos' campaign.
