Adelaide is favourite to ambush Sydney and Melbourne as 2015 World Cup final host.

Victoria-New South Wales rivalry is skyrocketing over which venue should stage the finale of the ICC one-day World Cup in 2015. CA chief executive James Sutherland, however, says the MCG and ANZ Stadium have no mortgage on the event with a redeveloped, 50,000-seat Adelaide Oval having a great shot at securing the showpiece.Adelaide Oval

"I don't think we should rule out other states. The Adelaide Oval is going to be a very big ground by the time the World Cup comes around. It's going to hold well over 50,000," Sutherland said. Adelaide Oval is to undergo a State Government-funded $535 million upgrade before the 2013-14 Ashes series.

"That (a World Cup final) is something that would have to be looked at. I'm sure that would justify the investment of the State Government in that stadium." Former South Australian Cricket Association boss John Harnden now is running the 2015 World Cup and secured the go-ahead for the Oval's upgrade.

Bradshaw says it doesn't matter whether Sydney's ANZ Stadium can seat 60,000 or the MCG packs in 100,000 fans as tender processes are based on a comprehensive assessment of venues - putting Adelaide Oval way ahead of the pack.

ANZ Stadium's facilities were criticised by India ahead of Wednesday's Twenty20 clash with the venue already behind Adelaide in the race to secure a semi-final or the 2015 final.
