Damage caused by storms and floods at the Wangaratta racecourse will be repaired with Victorian Government funding.

The $85,000 will help with the repair of the racecourse and the sand training track.wangaratta Race Track

The Victorian Minister for Racing, Denis Napthine, says racing across north-east Victoria is looking strong. He says the return of racing to Towong and harness racing to Wangaratta is helping to boost the number of people through the gates.

"It was great as a Government to return that race meeting to Towong, they had it taken away under the previous government, [it] was great to [have] harness racing back in Wangaratta, so racing in country areas is going from strength to strength."
