A senior Government bureaucrat has confirmed around $100 million of Adelaide Oval-related infrastructure will need to be funded from outside the $535 million directly allocated to the project.

Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure deputy chief executive Rod Hook today said about $15 million was needed for a bus link at the Oval and $11 million for a car park south of the River Torrens. The expenses come in addition to a forecast $50 million underground car park and $38 million for a footbridge across the Torrens.

The footbridge is currently included in the $394 million Adelaide Convention Centre rebuild budget and Skycity Casino has indicated interest in funding the link. Transport Minister Pat Conlon has previously conceded "escalations" are likely in the Oval costs as design and engineering works progress.

"$450 million is to fund the redevelopment beyond the current western stand development. "There's still a fair way to go for us to understand what will be funded by the $450 million that's now allocated for the eastern and southern stand of Adelaide Oval.

Liberal MP and Committee chair Rob Lucas said he would be "happy to wager" additional construction projects would not be funded under the $450 million.
